VIŠEGRAD, APRIL 21 /SRNA/ – A memorial plaque bearing the names of 12 fallen Serb fighters, members of the Goražde and Rogatica brigades of the Republika Srpska Army, was unveiled today in the St. Sava Monastery in Gornja Lijeska near Višegrad.

They were killed in the spring of 1993 on the defensive lines Zaglavak-Mali Stolac and Bogdašići-Klisura while preventing the advance of Muslim forces toward Višegrad and Žepa.

Most of the fighters were killed on this day that year, together with three Russian volunteers. On the same day, 32 Serb fighters were wounded and suffered from exposure.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Minister of Labor and Veterans' and Disability Protection Radan Ostojić, acting president of the Republika Srpska Veterans' Organization Milovan Gagić, mayors of Višegrad and Novo Goražde Mladen Đurević and Mila Petković, representatives of organizations stemming from the previous war, families of the fallen, and local residents.

The construction of the memorial plaque was financed by the Ministry of Labor and Veterans' and Disability Protection.
