PERMANENT BAN ON IDDEEA FROM PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA FOR ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES

SARAJEVO, JUNE 18 /SRNA/ - The Personal Data Protection Agency of BiH has permanently prohibited the Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange Agency of BiH /IDDEEA/ from processing personal data for the purpose of issuing qualified electronic certificates for electronic signing, except in procedures related to digital signing in the field of identification documents.

The Personal Data Protection Agency of BiH has also permanently prohibited the Indirect Taxation Authority from processing personal data for this purpose.

The Agency stated that it conducted proceedings against IDDEEA regarding the processing of personal data of BiH citizens for the purpose of issuing electronic identities, as well as the processing of personal data of visitors and employees through biometric control and search systems.

As part of that procedure, IDDEEA was also prohibited from assigning electronic identities to citizens of BiH without a legal basis, and it was ordered to delete personal data of BiH citizens collected during the testing phase of the electronic identity system.

The Agency stated that this decision was confirmed by rulings of the Court of BiH and the Appellate Administrative Panel of that court.
