BANJA LUKA, JUNE 26 /SRNA/ – Pelagićevo Mayor Slavko Tešić told SRNA that he was denied entry to Kosovo and Metohija today, where he had planned to attend the Vidovdan commemoration in Gračanica.
Tešić said he was turned back at the Merdare administrative crossing and that he had not been informed of the reason for the entry ban.
"This is my third visit to Kosovo and Metohija. We submitted our documents as usual, and after about ten minutes a uniformed officer came out and asked me to come inside, where he informed me that I could not enter the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija for reasons that, he said, were unknown to him," Tešić stated.
He added that he had never experienced any problems during his previous visits to Kosovo and Metohija.
Traveling with Tešić were the director of the Pelagićevo Tourist Organization, one of his associates, and his driver, all of whom were allowed to enter Kosovo and Metohija.
Earlier today, Nikšić Mayor Marko Kovačević was also denied entry to Kosovo and Metohija.
The New Serb Democracy /NSD/ party said the move once again confirmed what it described as Priština's anti-Serb politics.
"By denying entry today to the mayor of Nikšić and vice president of our party, Marko Kovačević, the authorities in Priština, led by the outgoing politician Aljbin Kurti, whom international actors now view as the main factor of instability in the Western Balkans, have once again confirmed their clear anti-Serb policy," the NSD statement said.
