JAHORINA, FEBRUARY 6 /SRNA/ – Italian skier Paola Magoni skied today on the Olympic track “Olympic” on Mount Jahorina, where she won a gold medal 42 years ago at the Winter Olympic Games.
The return of the Olympic champion to Jahorina is a symbol of the enduring Olympic spirit and the importance of the mountain, which still preserves the legacy of the region’s greatest sporting event, the Jahorina Olympic Centre announced.
As they emphasized, Jahorina today is not only celebrating skiing, but also celebrating history, emotion, and the Olympic spirit that still lives on its slopes.
Paola Magoni says this is an emotional day for her as she felt the spirit of the 1984 Olympics when she was back on the track.
“Here the people are exceptional hosts, and I always gladly return to Jahorina. This place has a special energy and excellent ski slopes,” Magoni said.
Paola Magoni is one of the most significant figures in world alpine skiing. Her Olympic gold medal from 1984 remains recorded in sports history, while her return to Jahorina further confirms the importance of this mountain on the map of European winter centres, the statement said.
