SRBAC, MARCH 10 /SRNA/ - A significant number of books published by the Museum of Genocide Victims in Belgrade have been presented to Osovica Monastery near Srbac.

The director of the Museum of Genocide Victims, Nikola Miloševski, told SRNA that the trials the Serbian people have faced through the centuries oblige them to preserve the Orthodox faith and support the restoration of monasteries, which includes helping enrich the book collections of monastic libraries.

According to him, the Museum of Genocide Victims publishes between 10 and 15 new titles every year, most of which are also translated into other languages.

"Our goal is not to sell these publications; it is far more important to us that they reach the hands of those who will read them. That is why we decided to donate the books to Osovica Monastery, knowing that in this way they will reach the right people and contribute to the culture of remembrance, which must certainly be dignified and sustainable," emphasized Miloševski, who visited the monastery together with the museum’s curator Biljana Marcojević.

The director of the National Library of Srbac Slaviša Stojković told SRNA that the friendly ties with the Museum of Genocide Victims are significant in several respects, one of them being the strengthening of collective awareness about the suffering of the Serbian people.

"Our wish is to establish a serious library at Osovica Monastery, which, in addition to spiritual and historical books, will also include scholarly publications. In this way, we want to enable both spiritual and academic life to develop in the monastery, because science and spirituality can go hand in hand," Stojković emphasized.

The abbot of Osovica Monastery, Archimandrite Teofil, acquainted the guests with the rich history of this area, speaking about important historical facts that testify to the suffering, faith, and perseverance of the people in these regions.

He paid special attention to the history of the monastery, its founding, destruction, reconstruction, and the spiritual role it plays in preserving the Orthodox faith and the values that have shaped the spiritual and cultural identity of the Orthodox people through the centuries.

He showed the guests the monastery complex, including the monastic library, and expressed gratitude for the gift, emphasizing that it is of exceptional value
