OJKAČA EVENING TO BE HELD AT MOŠTANICA MONASTERY

KOZARSKA DUBICA, AUGUST 18 /SRNA/ - The competitive Ojkača Evening festival will be held today at Moštanica Monastery near Kozarska Dubica as part of events marking the major Orthodox Christian feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

Ten ojkača singing groups from across Republika Srpska will perform at the festival.

This year's festival also features a significantly larger prize fund provided by the Office of the President of Republika Srpska.

The first prize for the festival winner is BAM 30,000, the second prize is BAM 20,000, and the third prize is BAM 10,0000, along with special awards for finalists and the youngest participants.

Dijana Kondić, acting director of the Kozarska Dubica Centre for Information and Culture, said that Ojkača Evening is not just a festival, but an event that, with its large turnout, helps preserve the traditions, customs, traditional singing and cultural heritage of the Potkozarje region.

Kondić thanked President Milorad Dodik, who has been a longtime supporter of the event and has recognized its importance.

The festival begins at 8:00 p.m.
