ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JUNE 11 /SRNA/ - The Music Academy of the University of Istočno Sarajevo promoted nine Masters of Arts and 21 graduate music artists today, on the occasion of its Day and patron saint's day of the Holy Martyr Theodosia of Tyre.
The Dean of the Music Academy, Maja Žuža, told reporters that it is a special honor that on the occasion of the patron saint's day, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia, with the participation of the Chamber Choir and students from the Department of Church Music and Chanting.
Žuža pointed out that she is particularly pleased that the graduates came from different parts of the world to attend the diploma awarding ceremony.
Regarding the new enrollment period, which will be held on June 29 and 30, Žuža pointed out that she expects a very good enrollment again and the continuation of a positive developmental trend.
The Rector of the University of Istočno Sarajevo Milan Kulić emphasized the importance of spirituality, culture, and art for the development of society and the University.
"I am proud of the fact that within the University we have the Faculty of Theology, which provides spirituality to our University, but also the Music Academy and the Academy of Fine Arts, which bring culture and art. Without spirituality, culture, and art, we would just be a facade. That is precisely why their importance is immeasurable," Kulić said.
The Mayor of Istočno Sarajevo Ljubiša Ćosić congratulated the management of the Music Academy on its Day and patron saint's day, emphasizing that this higher education institution represents one of the most significant symbols of culture and art in Republika Srpska.
"The Music Academy is a pearl of the University of Istočno Sarajevo, but also of the entire Republika Srpska. Its professors, students, and artistic ensembles have been achieving notable results for years and representing Istočno Sarajevo, the University, and Republika Srpska in the best possible way," Ćosić said.
Among the promoted students is graduated solo singer Maja Stanišić, one of five students who are this year's recipients of the Vojin Komadina Award, having achieved a perfect grade point average of 10. For her, today's ceremony represents the crown of the students' four years of work and effort.
Another recipient of the Vojin Komadina Award, Dženis Gadara, said that this recognition represents a great honor for him, as he has the opportunity to collaborate with professors and great figures working in this institution.
"It is a privilege that truly few have," emphasized Gadara.
As part of the ceremony, charters, recognitions, and certificates of appreciation were also awarded to deserving individuals and institutions for their contribution to the development and affirmation of the Music Academy of the University of Istočno Sarajevo.
