SOKOLAC, MARCH 30 /SRNA/ – An information LED display has been installed at the Novi Zejtinlik military memorial cemetery in Sokolac, providing visitors with details on wartime events in Sarajevo and the Sarajevo-Romanija region, as well as information about the origin and significance of the cemetery and the number of soldiers buried there.

A special feature of the display allows visitors to easily locate a grave by entering the name of a fallen soldier, marking a significant step forward in preserving the culture of remembrance and improving navigation for visitors.

The Veterans' Organization of the municipality of Sokolac, which initiated the installation of the panel, said the project was implemented in cooperation with the City of Istočno Sarajevo.

They expressed gratitude to the city and Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić for their continued understanding and support for projects important to the veteran population and for preserving the culture of remembrance.

The military memorial cemetery in Sokolac was established after the signing of the Dayton Peace Accords and the exodus of 150,000 Serbs who carried the remains of their loved ones with them when leaving their homes and property in the Federation of BiH.

The remains of 963 members of the Republika Srpska Army who were killed in the Defensive-Homeland War while defending the Sarajevo-Romanija region are buried at this cemetery.
