NOVI GRAD, APRIL 9 /SRNA/ – The Novi Grad Municipal Assembly's thematic session has begun, at which councilors will review information from this local community and the Expert Team regarding Croatia’s activities related to the construction of a radioactive waste storage facility at Trgovska Gora.
The session is attended by the Minister for Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of Republika Srpska, Bojan Vipotnik; the coordinator of the Expert and Legal Team, Borislav Bojić; the chairman of the Expert Team, Emir Dizdarević; a member of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Jasmin Emrić; as well as members of the National Assembly.
Representatives of local communities in the Una River basin from Republika Srpska and the Una-Sana Canton are also present.
Municipal mayor Miroslav Drljača says that today the importance of resolving this issue will once again be emphasized, as it is entering its final phase, which is why it is necessary for the authorities at the level of BiH to do everything to finally find a solution, something the local parliament will also appeal for.
Municipal Assembly Speaker Mirko Šljokavica said the session had been prepared seriously and responsibly, and he expects that conclusions will be adopted that will contribute to preventing Croatia’s intent to store hazardous waste in the immediate vicinity of Novi Grad.
Croatia plans to store radioactive waste from the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, as well as existing institutional waste, at the Trgovska Gora site in the municipality of Dvor, in the immediate vicinity of the border with BiH.
