FOČA, DECEMBER 20 /SRNA/ – The establishment of a specialist social services centre for children and youth with developmental disabilities in Foča will have multiple benefits for these individuals and their families, and will also serve as a teaching base for the Faculty of Medicine, said Nenad Lalović, a member of the National Assembly Committee on Health and Social Policy.
Lalović stated that this would be a modern, well-equipped centre operating at a high professional level, where assessments of children with developmental difficulties will be carried out, enabling timely diagnoses and the start of appropriate treatment.
“In addition to our centre in Foča, until now most children from Republika Srpska have gone to private centres in Belgrade or other cities, but now they will be able to receive all these services in one place,” said Lalović, a MP.
Lalović recalled that for many years Foča has had a day centre run by the association “Tračak nade/Ray of Hope”, as well as a defectology programme at the Faculty of Medicine, which trains professional staff for this field.
He noted that the initiative to establish this public institution, which originated in Foča, was accepted by the Republika Srpska leadership of and line ministry, and that Foča has been recognised for its high-quality work with this category of the population.
The 16th donor evening “To Brave Hearts, With Love” will be held on December 26, 2025, with the aim of raising funds and support for the establishment and equipping of specialist social services centres for children and youth with developmental disabilities in Banja Luka, Derventa, and Foča.
This humanitarian campaign is being held under the high patronage of the acting President of Republika Srpska, Ana Trišić Babić.
