PALE, MAY 29 /SRNA/ - The residents of Pale bravely stood in defense of the homeland, and not a single crime has ever been committed in the area of this municipality. Therefore, a member of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Džemal Smajić, should apologize to the good people of Pale, said Pale Mayor Dejan Kojić.
“I believe that the people of Pale do not deserve to be subjected to such treatment and public lynching, especially not by a holder of a public office in BiH. I expect MP Smajić to apologize to all my fellow citizens – good people and hosts,” Kojić said after Smajić stated that “Pale is a symbol of aggression against BiH” and that the alleged genocide project was led from there.
Kojić reminded that no war crime, let alone genocide, was committed in the municipality of Pale during the war, and that no court has ever returned a guilty verdict against any resident of Pale.
He also pointed out that one of the reasons the U.S. administration lifted the post-war sanctions on Pale was the fact that there were no recorded cases of human rights violations or deficiencies in democratic processes. Therefore, it is absurd to mislead the public with false statements and stigmatize the people of Pale in this way.
