BIJELJINA, NOVEMBER 14 /SRNA/ - The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić stated that the exhibitors at the Semberija Meat Fair are ambassadors of Republika Srpska, emphasizing that the event is not just a fair, but also a showcase of products that the entity exports.
Minić noted that many exhibitors are involved in the process from the very beginning, starting with agricultural land cultivation, livestock breeding, meat processing, and beyond.
"This is exactly what we need, this is the strength of Republika Srpska: to produce healthy food in our own capacities and ensure its quality," Minić told journalists ahead of the opening of the fair in Dvorovi near Bijeljina.
He added that he gladly accepted the invitation to attend the Semberija Meat Fair, recalling that he had visited even during difficult times, including the outbreak of African swine fever.
"I want to say with pride that back then, both I as the minister and the Government of Republika Srpska, we handled everything extremely professionally. The appropriateness of government measures is evident from the data. Today we have 9,000 more pigs in fattening and 1,000 more bulls," Minić stated.
He added that Semberija is the largest granary of Republika Srpska, but it also has the largest livestock stock.
"All that has been done shows not only that we renewed the livestock stock in pig farming, but that we actually increased it, achieving the highest premiums compared to all previous years," Minić said.
He emphasized that over the past three years alone, more than BAM 170 million has been invested in this sector, including over BAM 40 million just in Semberija.
He believes these investments are extremely beneficial and effective.
"The livestock sector and processing visible here in Semberija today show that Republika Srpska has products that can compete in the region, that we have raw materials, and that we have the capabilities," Minić emphasized.
He expressed hope that Semberija will be able to show increasingly better results and higher quality year after year.
"It's not just about the event itself, but also about the fact that we have products that are exported outside Republika Srpska," Minić said.
The Semberija Meat Fair officially opened today in Bijeljina, gathering for the ninth time numerous exhibitors from BiH, Serbia, Croatia, and Montenegro.
