BANJA LUKA, APRIL 4 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić says the police are a firm support in a time full of security challenges, adding that today it is necessary to remember all members who gave their lives in the defence of Republika Srpska.
"Today we especially and with pride remember all members who gave their lives in defence of freedom, those whose sacrifice obliges us to respect what has been defended and to preserve what has been honourably gained. Their unwavering faith remains our companion today, guiding us firmly forward with great integrity and pride," Minić said at the main ceremony marking Republika Srpska Police Day at the Training Center in Zalužani.
Minić expressed respect and gratitude to the people who wear the uniform honourably and responsibly, stressing that the police are the guardians of the constitutional order and the protectors of the life, property and peace of every person in Republika Srpska.
"You are our firm support at a time when the world is faced with complex security challenges, from organised crime to new threats of the modern era," Minić said.
He told members of the Republika Srpska Interior Ministry that their service is not a job that lasts eight hours, but a calling that lasts 24 hours a day.
"It is a pledge given to the people that you will be the first when it is most difficult, that you will stand between danger and citizens, and that you will preserve order, peace and the dignity of Republika Srpska," Minić said.
He added that the Republika Srpska Government knows that a strong state rests on strong institutions, and that strong institutions rest on satisfied, motivated and respected people.
"That is why our care for police officers is not merely declarative; it is translated into clear and lasting policies of support and improvement. For that reason, we have made decisions to increase salaries and allowances for police members and continued a strong investment cycle in the modernisation of the Interior Ministry," Minić emphasized.
He says the clear goal if that every police officer has the best possible working conditions, the most modern equipment and the security of knowing that a strong and responsible Government stands behind him/her, enabling hm/her to respond to all the challenges of our time.
Minić stressed that investing in the police means investing in peace, security and the future of Republika Srpska.
"May this holiday remind you of the honourable mission you carry, but also confirm that the people and institutions of Republika Srpska know how to appreciate your sacrifice, discipline and dedication. Thank you for the courage and commitment with which you protect our security every working day," Minić concluded.
