BANJA LUKA, MAY 13 /SRNA/ – The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić said that the number of believers who visited Mrkonjići yesterday and today clearly shows the depth of faith in Saint Basil of Ostrog and the strength, comfort and hope people find at this holy site.
"People come here for peace, unity and spiritual strength that has gathered our people for centuries", Minić wrote on the social network X.
According to him, the institutions of Republika Srpska and Serbia are developing Mrkonjići, the birthplace of Saint Basil of Ostrog, in order to preserve it as a place of prayer and spiritual gathering for future generations.
"The construction of the monastery dormitory with a viewpoint, an open-air amphitheater, a museum space with a treasury and accompanying facilities was carried out with joint funding from the Government of Republika Srpska, the Government of Serbia and the City of Trebinje", Minić said.
A solemn liturgical commemoration and anniversary marking the entry of Saint and Blessed Anna, the mother of Saint Basil of Ostrog, into the diptychs of saints of the Serbian Orthodox Church was held today at the Mrkonjići Monastery near Trebinje.
