BANJA LUKA, MARCH 20 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić says the Government will keep doing everything to increase the representation of women in the public life of Republika Srpska, emphasizing that it is not only about numbers, but also about the influence women have.

"We are trying, as much as possible, to give institutional importance to gender equality so that it truly reflects the meaning of those words," Minić told the press in Banja Luka before the start of the panel discussion titled "Women in the Politics of Republika Srpska from Its Establishment to Today: Can We Do Better?"

Minić noted that women's representation in the National Assembly and the Republika Srpska Government ranges between 25 and 28 percent, stressing that Republika Srpska must improve in this regard.

"That number alone is not enough; perhaps we should sometimes give women greater importance and influence," Minić emphasized.

He added that Republika Srpska is working on this issue and that there are good examples from Serbia.

In addition to Prime Minister Minić, the panel discussion is attended by the Serb BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović, SNSD leader Milorad Dodik, ministers in the Republika Srpska Government, and representatives of the Republika Srpska Gender Equality Centre.
