BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 17 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said today that the Republika Srpska Government would support the expansion and modernization of the Faculty of Medicine in Banja Luka, which is expected to move by late autumn to the site of the former surgery department.
Following a meeting with Faculty of Medicine Dean Ranko Škrbić, Minić said that the Faculty would prepare the main design, while the relevant ministries would do their part.
“Part of the premises will be renovated, and the necessary equipment will also be procured. We cannot yet specify the amount of funding required, but it will be an investment worth millions,” Minić told reporters.
He stressed that a simulation centre equipped with state-of-the-art equipment would also be established at the new location.
Minić stressed the need to support young people engaged in scientific research, noting that he was pleasantly surprised by the extent to which the Faculty of Medicine is keeping up with the latest trends in all fields of medical science.
According to him, the meeting also addressed primary healthcare for students, who will have easier access to medical care in the future. Efforts will be made to spare them the unnecessary loss of time involved in visiting a family doctor in their place of residence.
