MINIĆ AND DODIK VISIT CHURCH OF SAINT GEORGE

TRNOVO, SEPTEMBER 22 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić and President Milorad Dodik visited the Orthodox Church of St George in Trnovo today, where local parish priest Njegoslav Jelišić told them about the suffering of the Serb people in this area during the 1992-1995 Defensive-Patriotic War.

Father Jelišić also shared details from the church's history and presented Minić with an icon and Dodik with a gusle bearing the coat of arms of Republika Srpska.

As a return gift, Minić presented Father Jelišić with a flag of Republika Srpska.

In the summer of 1992, members of the so-called Army of BiH captured Trnovo, killing and taking a large number of Serb civilians prisoner.

The church and parish house were set on fire on that occasion, along with a large number of homes.
