BANJA LUKA, APRIL 28 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has stated today that all conditions have been met for the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague to decide on the urgent release of General Ratko Mladić for medical treatment in Serbia.
Minić emphasized that the governments of Republika Srpska and Serbia have submitted everything that was requested of them, and that they are now only awaiting the Mechanism's decision.
"We receive all information about General Mladić from his son, Darko," Minić told the presss in Banja Luka.
The family of General Ratko Mladić and his lawyer, Dragan Ivetić, submitted a request to the Hague Mechanism on April 23 for his urgent release for medical treatment in Serbia due to his extremely serious health condition.
The Mechanism is not bound by a deadline to decide on the request.
General Ratko Mladić suffered a stroke on April 10, and his condition has further deteriorated, as he has serious neurological, cardiovascular, and renal problems.
Since 2024, General Mladić has been held in the detention hospital in The Hague, where he is receiving palliative care due to his severe health condition.
The Mechanism has previously rejected requests for his provisional release for medical treatment in Serbia.
