SRBAC, OCTOBER 12 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said the agreement between the United States and Russia on exporting Russian oil to the global market was highly significant, saying it could not only lower oil prices but also help ease tensions, while Republika Srpska has so far paid out more than BAM 12.4 million under its fuel subsidy measure.
Minić said falling oil prices on the global market were highly significant because oil accounts for a very large share of costs in many sectors of the economy.
He noted that Republika Srpska had introduced a series of measures since prices began surging, including a subsidy of 10 pfenings per liter of fuel.
"I can tell you that, as of the latest calculation, we have paid out more than BAM 12.4 million under that measure. We sought to help both businesses and household budgets," Minić told reporters in Srbac.
He said the agreement between the two major world powers was also an important first step with regard to what Russia calls its special military operation and broader developments in Europe, which he said had unnecessarily begun rattling sabers.
"I think that, at this moment, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have made an exceptionally good move," Minić said.
