BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 26 /SRNA/ - Political scientist Vojislav Savić told SRNA that politics is a marathon, not a 100-meter sprint.
"Many have raced to see Milorad Dodik fall, but this trial has pushed things to the point of absurdity and, in a way, exposed the true nature of this state - embodied in the figures of former U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy and Christian Schmidt," Savić said.
He pointed out that the shift in relations with the U.S. State Department, along with public support from the Russian Federation, clearly shows that Dodik has emerged as the winner from this confrontation.
Savić emphasized that political circles in Sarajevo have been unable for days to formulate a coherent stance on the issue, since they are used to being told what to think, which is why we now witness schizophrenic divisions within a political public that for years has had no topic other than Dodik.
"To make the irony even greater, I believe this process has only boosted his ratings and strengthened support for SNSD," Savić concluded.
He expressed hope that, in the period ahead, a more rational approach from Sarajevo will emerge - one that aligns with the new reality - and that within Republika Srpska there will be greater unity on such matters.
