BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 28 /SRNA/ – Banja Luka tennis player Sara Mikača told SRNA that the Republika Srpska institutions have always supported her when she needed assistance to travel to competitions, stressing that she is infinitely grateful for support.
Mikača, who is currently ranked 806th in the WTA rankings, said that tennis is an expensive sport and that continuous training, extensive travel and significant financial resources are required to progress and achieve top-level results.
"Whenever I submitted a request for support to the institutions, they responded positively and assisted me financially, therefore I an infinitely grateful to them for that," Mikača said in the new episode of the SRNA podcast.
She spoke particularly about the BIRKS Sports Games, where she represented the Republika Srpska team for the first time, saying that it was a great experience for her.
"I think they value that very much and genuinely support me," she said.
She stressed that continuity in training and competitions is particularly important for young tennis players, as are conditions that enable them to compete on an equal footing with players from other countries.
Mikača believes that the tennis associations of Republika Srpska and BiH should pay more attention to players who are already achieving notable results and showing potential for further progress.
"There really aren't many players from either Republika Srpska or BiH who are ranked in the WTA and ATP rankings," she said, emphasizing that those who have achieved results should therefore receive greater support.
She expressed hope that such support would continue in the future, and that the tennis associations would recognize the need for greater engagement and stronger support for players.
The new episode of the SRNA podcast, featuring Banja Luka tennis player Sara Mikača, will be available tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. to SRNA service subscribers, as well as on social media and the YouTube channel.
