METROPOLITAN HRIZOSTOM: THANK YOU TO SARAJEVO SERBS FOR CREATING REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, MARCH 16 /SRNA/ - Thank you to the Sarajevo Serbs for creating Republika Srpska, especially the fighters who defended what was Serbian, said His Eminence Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia this evening.

The metropolitan emphasized that everything originated from Sarajevo, as it had been a major spiritual center of the Serb people and culture.

“The tragedy that you went through is something very few have experienced,” Metropolitan Hrizostom said at a spiritual academy marking the 30th anniversary of the exodus of the Sarajevo Serbs.

He emphasized that the Dayton Agreement was a cleverly packaged arrangement by the Americans and the English, primarily intended to take revenge on the Sarajevo Serbs and the Serbs of the Sarajevo-Romanija region because they had defended their territories.

“It was their pure revenge against the Serbs. No one raised the issue of guarantees for the Serb people in the Federation of BiH if they wished to remain there,” Metropolitan Hrizostom stressed.

According to him, everything that happened was an emotional reaction of the Serbs of Sarajevo to the injustice inflicted upon them at the end of the war.

He also pointed out that he learned a great deal at this academy, where the truth about the difficult fate of the Serb people of Sarajevo was presented.

He recalled the migrations of the Serbs but emphasized that such scenes of pain had never been seen in Serbian history as during the exodus.

“It is good to remember the Serbian martyrs, who gave everything so that the Serb people could have freedom. Freedom is our greatest value; only mother and freedom are the two words that are most precious to Serbs. You chose freedom to live in Republika Srpska,” said Metropolitan Hrizostom.

He stated that the Sarajevo Serbs enriched many towns in Republika Srpska, and therefore, he thanked them.

He also emphasized that their ancestors are admirable and that he is very happy to be their metropolitan.
