MAZALICA: GROUNDHOG DAY AND MIRKO ŠAROVIĆ

BANJA LUKA, DECEMBER 4 /SRNA/ – Head of the SNSD Club in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Srđan Mazalica said that the assessments of SDS’s Mirko Šarović about “the end of SNSD’s dominance” fall more within the genre of comedy than serious politics.

Commenting on Šarović’s interview with a Sarajevo portal, in which he claims that "2026 will be the last year of SNSD rule", Mazalica stated that one might even believe Šarović’s predictions if he and his party did not say the same thing before every election, only to then lose every election to SNSD.

"Mirko was similarly convinced of the opposition’s victory in 2022, saying that ‘we are facing a moment when the wheel of history will start turning forward,’ and then he lost to Željka Cvijanović by more than 100,000 votes", Mazalica told SRNA.

Mazalica noted that Šarović reminds him of the main character in the film Groundhog Day, who wakes up every morning in the same day, reliving the same events, realizing the date still hasn’t changed, and is forced to experience the same day in a loop, which gradually leads him to question his life and priorities.

"I call on Mirko Šarović to reassess his life, politics, and priorities, instead of bombarding us with predictions that belong more to the genre of comedy than serious drama", Mazalica said.

Mazalica added that he agrees with Šarović only on one point, that the wheel of history has indeed started turning forward.

"But it has moved forward with Željka Cvijanović, Milorad Dodik, and SNSD", Mazalica emphasized.
