FOČA, APRIL 6 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education Draga Mastilović has stated today in Foča that construction of the simulation and administrative centre of the Faculty of Medicine and the second pavilion of the Boriša Starović Student Centre will begin this year, with a total value of BAM 30,000,000.
After visiting the Student Centre, faculties and the Theological Seminary, Mastilović told press that the Republika Srpska Government will participate in the construction of the simulation and administrative centre of the Faculty of Medicine with BAM 4.8 million, while the Faculty itself will provide BAM two million.
He stated that the second pavilion of the Boriša Starović Student Centre will be financed with BAM 25 million, adding that construction is planned to start this year, with completion expected in 2028.
Mastilović emphasized that higher education institutions in Foča are of great importance for the University of Istočno Sarajevo.
"It is an honour and pleasure for me to be in Foča today and to have the opportunity to see that the vision of those who created Republika Srpska and its institutions, therefore the University of Istočno Sarajevo, is being realised today," Mastilović said.
He noted that nearly 2,800 students from 38 countries are currently studying in Foča, which is extremely significant for a municipality with fewer than 20,000 residents.
According to him, the Republika Srpska Government of has recognised Foča as an important university centre, which is reflected in investments in the faculties and the Boriša Starović Student Dormitory, where conditions for studying at a European level have been created.
"It is satisfying to see the conditions our students have, from free education and accommodation to subsidies and increased scholarships," Mastilović emphasized.
Mastilović says that faculties and student standard institutions are a significant driver of development not only for Foča, but also for the wider region, adding that the Republika Srpska Government will continue investing in higher education and student standards.
