ŠEKOVIĆI, JULY 18 /SRNA/ - Miladin Lazić, mayor of the municipality of Šekovići, has stated today that the Lazić Farm in the village of Markovići, which specializes in an organic free-range livestock system, operates in accordance with international and European standards.

After visiting the farm together with the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, he said that the municipality of Šekovići and the Government of Republika Srpska had supported the project from the very beginning.

"We helped secure all the necessary permits. We leased a large portion of our unused and uncultivated land to the farm on a long-term basis so it could produce feed for its livestock. In cooperation with the Government, we also secured a long-term lease of land owned by Republika Srpska," Lazić told reporters.

He expressed hope that other residents would also be able to build on what he described as a successful project.

Farm owner Slobodan Vasiljević said the goal of the project was to revive the area and create jobs for local residents.

"We produce organic food without the use of chemicals. We are the first in BiH to raise Japanese Wagyu cattle, as well as a French cattle breed. We currently have around 200 Mangalitsa pigs, and we plan to import pigs from Spain," Vasiljević said, thanking Cvijanović for visiting the farm.

He also thanked the municipality and the Republika Srpska Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management for their support.
