BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 27 /SRNA/ - Milan Latinović, Assistant Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska, told SRNA that the relocation of Trebinje Hospital to a new facility will begin tomorrow and that the new hospital is expected to be fully operational within seven days.
"The hospital management and staff have already been working on preparations for the relocation and have reduced the number of non-urgent cases," Latinović said in an SRNA podcast.
He said that the relocation has been organized in phases to avoid disruptions in operations and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the healthcare system in the region.
"The relocation will most likely take around seven days," Latinović said.
Speaking about healthcare infrastructure projects, Latinović said he expects the conceptual design for the reconstruction and equipping of Prijedor Hospital to be completed by June, after which the Government of Republika Srpska will consider the next steps in implementing the project.
"The Government of Republika Srpska has allocated certain financial resources intended for the preparation of the conceptual design for Prijedor Hospital. Prijedor Hospital itself initiated this procedure and selected the contractor who will prepare the conceptual design. Under these contracts, we expect the activities related to the preparation of the conceptual design to be completed by mid-year, sometime in June," Latinović said.
He pointed out that this is a complex and extensive undertaking, which involves the reconstruction of the existing facility as well as the expansion with new capacities.
Latinović also spoke about the importance of the new oncology and hematology facility of the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska, the strengthening of nursing services, and the Healthy Communities Project.
