ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 21 /SRNA/ – The Speaker of the Assembly of the Republika Srpska Creators Dušan Kozić told SRNA that the National Assembly is a key to all events and that it is very important how it takes a stance on any issue and that the establishment of the Assembly of the Serb people in BiH 34 years ago was a forced but legitimate response to attempted outvoting of the Serb people in BiH.
Kozić said it was a path into uncertainty, but there was no other choice, given that the insolence of political opponents had reached the point of completely ignoring and marginalizing Serbs.
He said that the Assembly of the Serb people in BiH faced pressure and blackmail during its work, but that the deouties overcame all disagreements with patience, wisdom, dialogue, and unity.
Kozić recalled that the Serb representatives at the time believed the creation of the Assembly of the Serb people in BiH and the founding of Republika Srpska were necessary to preserve the identity and statehood of Serbs in BiH.
"We also faced pressures, offers, and blackmail, but we always emerged united and in agreement. Today, however, I feel some concern. It seems to me that today's party animosities are greater than the ideological differences we had back then," Kozić emphasized.
He also noted that even the members of the first assembly did not always share the same opinions, but they held sessions that lasted up to three days until a compromise was reached.
"Our leadership never came to us with pre-made offers; instead, we would patiently refine all discussions and reach the best conclusions for Republika Srpska through unity. Today, the level of exclusion is such that I am worried about the extent of irrationality among certain MPs and parties," said Kozić.
The Assembly of the Serb people in BiH was founded in Sarajevo on October 24, 1991.
