BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 25 /SRNA/ – There will be a referendum, but there will be no Schmidt and no support for the opposition! declared SNSD spokesperson Radovan Kovačević.

"At the same session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, decisions were made both to cancel the early elections and to hold a referendum. The opposition voted against both", Kovačević reminded.

He added that the opposition showed how much they respected the decisions of the National Assembly by immediately rushing to register for the elections.

"When we saw that, we changed the Assembly’s decision to prevent Sarajevo and the opposition from seizing Republika Srpska’s institutions against the will of the people", Kovačević stated on the social network X.

Today, Kovačević emphasizes, the opposition is trying to convince the public that the decision on canceling the elections, which they voted against, did not interest them and that they did not respect it, but that the decision on the referendum, which they also voted against, suddenly interests them and they would allegedly respect it?!

"This kind of kindergarten opposition politics may get them a few likes on Facebook or TikTok, but that’s not how a state or a people are led", Kovačević said.

He reminded it was important to mention, because of the public, that the Law on Referendum and Citizens’ Initiative of Republika Srpska had only recently completed the required procedure in the Council of Peoples and the Constitutional Court of Republika Srpska due to the Bosniak veto, which made it impossible to hold the referendum within the initially planned timeframe.

Kovačević stated that the next step will be the appointment of a referendum commission and setting a new date, in accordance with legal procedures.

"In any case, there will be a referendum, but there will be no Schmidt and no support for the opposition", Kovačević concluded.
