BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 12 /SRNA/ – The president of the PDP and mayor of Banja Luka, Draško Stanivuković, with his shameful statement that “Milorad Dodik is no longer the President of the Republic,” has shown that he is ready to trample on the Constitution of Republika Srpska, said SNSD spokesperson Radovan Kovačević.
“It is shameful to hear statements from certain people such as the vice president of the PDP and mayor of Banja Luka, Draško Stanivuković, who now tells us that Milorad Dodik is no longer the President of Republika Srpska.
People who act this way are ready to trample on the Constitution of Republika Srpska and the right of Srpska, the Serb people, and its citizens to freely and democratically elect their own representatives,” Kovačević told Newsmax Balkans.
He recalled that Stanivuković hosted Christian Schmidt and removed the flag of Republika Srpska for him.
“He did the same when /Sarajevo mayor/ Benjamina Karić came, who insulted Republika Srpska. He shamefully took Schmidt to the ‘12 Babies’ memorial, dedicated to those who died due to the decisions of that part of the international community which Christian Schmidt represents, and now he tells us that Milorad Dodik is no longer the President of the Republic,” Kovačević stressed.
He pointed out that the Constitution of Republika Srpska is very clear – the President of the Republic can end his term early in only two ways: if those who elected him, that is, the citizens of Republika Srpska, recall him, or if he resigns.
“Since neither of these things has happened – and I believe they will not – it is entirely clear that, in accordance with the Constitution of Republika Srpska, which is harmonized with the Constitution of BiH, as confirmed by the Venice Commission, Milorad Dodik remains president until the next elections,” Kovačević concluded.
