KOVAČ: MoI GUARANTOR OF SRPSKA PRESERVATION

BANJA LUKA, APRIL 3 /SRNA/ - Former Minister of Interior of Republika Srpska Tomislav Kovač says the Ministry of Interior /MoI/ is the guarantor of Srpska preservation, the security and survival of the Serb people in BiH.

"The MoI and its members now have the role of both the army and the police, i.e. as legal and legitimate bodies, to preserve everything that we have," Kovač told SRNA on the occasion of the upcoming celebration of Police Day - April 4.

He has stated that the public and the young generations in Srpska these days should be familiar with the history of the MoI creation, when Serb police officers and special forces left the former MoI of BiH in the 1990s and on the eve of April 4 joined the Serb MoI.

"What we divided then, the Srpska MoI still has today. At that time, due to the lack of respect for the Serb peoples interests, we had the guts to leave everything; no Bosnian laws were important to us, but the Constitution and acts of Srpska," said Kovač.

He added that the Serbs then did not want to serve Alija Izetbegović, but instead sacrificed their lives, jobs and the like to go in the direction of the struggle for the Serb people and Srpska.

"We achieved those high goals, which is a message to the future generations of Serbs in these areas," reminded Kovač.

He suggested that the young generations in Srpska should be familiar with the history of the creation of the MoI through the republic's education system, adding that it is important in terms of preserving what was acquired in blood during the last war.

"We will not give that regardless of the cowardice of certain politicians who previously gave in to high representatives and Muslims in BiH in the plan of usurping the republic's competences," said Kovač.

He warned the Serbs in BiH to be careful about, as he said, re-tying the flags of Muslims and Croats in BiH.

The Police of Republika Srpska was formed on April 4, 1992 and is an executive institution, operational and investigative body of the Ministry of Interior.
