ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JUNE 27 /SRNA/ – Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac said on the occasion of Vidovdan, the patron saint's day of the Republika Srpska Army, that the sacrifice of those who gave the most precious thing they had – their lives – for peace and freedom will never be forgotten.
Košarac stressed that Vidovdan is one of the most important dates in the history of the Serb people and a cornerstone of the Serbs' collective identity.
He said that this great holiday is a symbol of suffering, but also a symbol of freedom and survival.
"With great gratitude and profound reverence, we preserve the memory of the finest sons of Republika Srpska," Košarac stressed.
He pointed out that the Republika Srpska Army was created out of the will of the Serb people to defend their right to live on their centuries-old ancestral lands, protecting its people and makig a key contribution to the creation of Republika Srpska.
"On Vidovdan, we remember all our suffering, but also renew our pledge to remain steadfast, united around the values of freedom, honour and justice. May Vidovdan be a day of unity, pride, spiritual strength and a lasting pledge for the future," Košarac said.
He extended heartfelt greetings to Brigadier Goran Maksimović, commander of the Third Infantry /Republika Srpska/ Regiment of the BiH Armed Forces, the regiment's members and former members of the Republika Srpska Army.
"I am convinced that you will continue to proudly uphold the tradition of the glorious and heroic Republika Srpska Army, and that through your work, knowledge and dedication you will continue to contribute to preserving peace and stability in this region," Košarac cited in his congratulatory note.
