ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JUNE 8 /SRNA/ - The All-Serb Assembly, held two years ago in Belgrade, is one of the most important national and political events for the Serbian people in recent history, stated the Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac to SRNA.
He assessed that the All-Serb Assembly, which was held on the initiative of Presidents Milorad Dodik and Aleksandar Vučić, showed the determination of the Serbian people, wherever they live, to gather around common values, interests, and goals.
Košarac emphasized that the All-Serb Assembly sent a clear message that the Serbian people are united, connected by a shared history, faith, culture, language, alphabet, and spiritual heritage.
He pointed out that in a time of numerous challenges and attempts to alter identity, Serbs, for the first time at such a high institutional level, showed their readiness to organize and responsibly protect their national interests and the right to preserve their identity.
"The Declaration adopted at the All-Serb Assembly holds special historical significance, representing the highest degree of harmonization and unification of Serbian national interests in modern history. That declaration confirmed the unity of the Serbian people and laid the foundations for even stronger cooperation between Republika Srpska and Serbia in all areas of national importance," Košarac pointed out.
He pointed out that the Declaration represents, for the Serbs in Republika Srpska, but also for the Serbian people in all of BiH, additional strength and security in the fight to preserve the rights guaranteed by the Dayton Peace Agreement, protect the constitutional competencies of Srpska, and preserve national identity.
At the same time, he noted, it confirms that the relations between Republika Srpska and Serbia today are at the highest level in recent history, thanks to the responsible politics and fraternal cooperation led by Presidents Dodik and Vučić.
"The Declaration is not just a political document of one era. It has lasting value and represents the foundation for the future actions of the Serbian people. It contains the key elements of our national being—the Serbian language, the Cyrillic alphabet, the Serbian Orthodox Church, the culture of remembrance, the protection of national interests, and the right of the Serbian people to decide on their own future," said Košarac.
According to him, that is why it is an obligation to continue turning everything defined by the All-Serb Assembly and confirmed by the Declaration into concrete policies and projects.
"We owe this to the generations who created and defended our people throughout history, but also to the generations to come. Only united, gathered around our national interests and the strong ties between Republika Srpska and Serbia, can we preserve who we are and secure the future for the Serbian people on both sides of the Drina River," stated Košarac.
At the First All-Serb Assembly entitled "One People, One Assembly - Serbia and Srpska," held on June 8, 2024, in Belgrade, the necessity of a Serbian national gathering was pointed out.
