PRNJAVOR, MARCH 30 /SRNA/ - Athletes from Kenya, Hilary Kiptum Mayo Kimaiyo and Jacinda Kawindu Paul, are the winners of the 26th International Street Race in Prnjavor, organized by the Athletics Club /AC/ Prnjavor, which also had a humanitarian character this year.

Kimaiyo won the main race at 5,000 meters for the third time and announced his return to Prnjavor next year as well.

"I had the biggest competition from two compatriots, I'm satisfied with the victory. The weather conditions were ideal for the race, it wasn't too hot like last year. I'm coming again next year," he told reporters.

An exceptional success at today's International Street Race was achieved by thirteen-year-old David Mirković from AC Prnjavor, who managed to place himself among the top 10.

David said that the competition was extremely strong and that among the participants in the main race were his role models.

"I have been in athletics for more than six years, I train every day except Sunday. Today I had the opportunity to talk with some of the best athletes and I wish to be like them one day," said this boy.

The president of AC Prnjavor Željko Petrović emphasized that the International street race in Prnjavor has been in the European and world athletic calendar for years, with the highest standard and the status of five gold stars.

"In the main race, we had more than 150 athletes from all over the world," Petrović told reporters and stated that more than 1,500 competitors took part in all races today.

He pointed out that he can rightfully say that this is an elite race with quality competitors and a prize fund of BAM 10,000, thanks to a company from Prnjavor that every year as a socially responsible company provides funds for prizes.

The international street race, as the most important sports event in Prnjavor, which is why it is also in the calendar of events marking March 24, City Day, was followed by the mayor of Prnjavor, Darko Tomaš.

"Excellent promotion of the city and sports, and in this way we show that we are a city of young, talented and successful people. Today we enjoyed sports skills, we all had a great time and I'm sure that this is the best invitation for all participants for next year," Tomaš said.

He congratulated AC Prnjavor and the management of the club led by Željko Petrović for the good work and organization not only when it comes to this race, but also for all other sports activities throughout the year.

The race in Prnjavor this year also had a humanitarian character, as the contributions collected from the sale of starting numbers will be handed over to the Association of Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities "Neven" from Prnjavor, whose wards ran a symbolic 30-meter race this year.
