BANJA LUKA, JUNE 3 /SRNA/ - The President of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan said today in Banja Luka that tradition and culture are among the most important parts of the national identity, which has been united for 28 years as part of the Petar Kočić Theater Fest organized by the National Theater of Republika Srpska.
"We can be proud of what Petar Kočić Theater Fest has become, because it is a great affirmation of our culture as a whole," Karan told reporters after the meeting with the management of the National Theater.
He added that culture is not only a promotion of the national identity, but it also has educational and ethical dimension, with its contemporary approaches.
"We can say that this theater fest has become one of the most important regional events of theatrical arts. The National Theatre of Republika Srpska received both regional and international affirmation, and that is why the institution of Srpska strongly support them. They are our promoters and ambassadors," Karan pointed out.
He assessed that it was good that the performances will be performed in several local communities of the Republika Srpska.
"The stronger the culture, the stronger Republika Srpska. It is a reflection of our strength, the affirmation of these values is a reflection of the strength of Srpska and it must be visible in each of our local communities, and we already have good examples," Karan noted.
He congratulated the management of the National Theater of Republika Srpska, as well as all the workers, for their enthusiasm in successfully organizing the Petar Kočić Theater Fest for years.
"The Government of Republika Srpska, relevant ministry and the Cabinet of the President of the Republic will continue to help the National Theatre," Karan said after talking with the director of this cultural institution Dijana Grbić and artistic director Ljubiša Savanović.
The Petar Kočić Theater Fest will be held from tomorrow to June 10, and this year's event will be held in an expanded edition. The audience in Banja Luka will be able to watch six carefully selected plays from the country and the region during the festival.
