BANJA LUKA, APRIL 3 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Interior Minister Siniša Karan says the touch-drill conducted by the members of the Srpska Ministry of Interior todday in Banja Luka is proof of the MoI's capacity and ability to solve the most difficult security challenges.
Karan says the MoI members demonstrated in a technical-tactical drill how to deal with a very difficult situation of a terrorist group’s attack on a protected person in motion.
"This is a very demanding situation that can realistically happen. It shows the great success and skill of our members, in this case the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, the Gendarmerie and the newly formed Aviation Administration," Karan told the press after a touch-drill in Krajina Square, which was organised on the occasion of April 4 - Police Day.
Karan reminded that a few days ago, the MoI Aviation Unit and the Aviation Service were merged. "That's how we strengthened our capacities," said Karan.
He stated that the ability of the Srpska MoI demonstrated today is the product of many years of daily work and training that MoI members have in the MoI Training Centre, as well as in police administrations.
"Last year, we had a very similar and difficult situation in which we efficiently eliminated a possible terrorist act," Karan said.
He emphasized that the MoI would like to send a message to the Republika Srpska citizens that the Police of Srpska is strong, powerful, well-equipped and trained, has capacity to respond to all challenges.
"We will continue to further strengthen these special units, as well as the MoI in general. I want to congratulate all of them once again on the successfully completed operation, the demonstrated drill, and to send a message to our citizens that they can and should fully trust our police force, which was, is and will be the guarantor of the overall security of Republika Srpska and all its citizens," said Karan.
Commander of the Republika Srpska Gendarmerie Slaviša Trifković said that the citizens had the opportunity to see the successful realisation of the touch-drill.
"The goal of this exercise is to see the professional competence of all units, operational ability, training and skill to respond to all security risks. The scenario of the exercise is solving a crisis situation in the city and urban area and protect and secure the protected person," said Trifković.
He pointed out that the strategic goal of the units that participated in the exercise was to provide maximum security to every citizen of Republika Srpska and their property.
Today in Banja Luka, on the occasion of April 4 - Police Day, organised by the Ministry of Interior, a demintrating rally and a parade of the Police Orchestra were held.
