KARAN: PIC IS NOT DAYTON BODY, BUT POLITICAL ONE

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 29 /SRNA/ - The President of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan stated today in Banja Luka that the Peace Implementation Council /PIC/ represents a manifestation of force by those who believe they can trample on international law, because it is not a Dayton body, but a political one.

"Christian Schmidt has acted outside the Dayton Peace Agreement, and Republika Srpska has been saying that he is not the High Representative as prescribed by Annex 10. Our objections were directed at the fact that the High Representative is to be proposed by the parties, among which is Srpska," Karan told reporters, speaking about the upcoming PIC session regarding the appointment of the High Representative.

He emphasized that anything not within the framework of Annex 10 of the Dayton Peace Agreement is problematic, and that Srpska will not grant legitimacy or legality to such a thing.

A session of the Peace Implementation Council /PIC/ is scheduled to be held tomorrow.
