BANJA LUKA, APRIL 4 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan has today expressed gratitude to all Republika Srpska Police members for the courage and dedication, which they protect their people and Republika Srpska with.

"Speaking about the police of Republika Srpska, we are speaking about the bastion of Republika Srpska, about a force built by the will of the people, the sacrifice of generations and the unwavering determination to preserve what is ours and what belongs to us," Karan said at the ceremony marking Police Day at the Training Center in Zalužani.

Karan stressed that the Ministry of Interior, as an institution, is not merely part of the system, but its backbone, a symbol of stability and perseverance.

"Today more than ever we must strengthen our police, because in doing so we protect our Republika Srpska. By celebrating Police Day, we are at the same time reminding ourselves who we are, what we defend and why we must never yield in our role," Karan said.

Karan has noted that today we remember with deep respect and sincere gratitude the 782 members of the Ministry of Interior who gave their lives for Republika Srpska, as well as all police officers who lost their lives in line of duty.

"Their sacrifice is the highest price of the freedom we live today. Within it are contained courage, honour and unwavering loyalty to the homeland," Karan emphasized.

Karan says that because of their sacrifice it is nowadays necessary to be united, firm and persistent in every challenge.

"That sacrifice obliges us never to forget. Because a people who remember their heroes know where they are going and know what they are defending," Karan stated.

He adds that security is not a privilege but a fundamental right of every resident of Republika Srpska.

"It is a prerequisite for a dignified life and the most frequent pillar of every well-organised society. It is precisely this right that is defended daily, without compromise, by 7,200 members of the Ministry of Interior, 5,500 of whom are police officers," Karan said.

He says that today we are celebrating Police Day and speaking about courage, dedication and honour.

"We are speaking about the strength of Republika Srpska, reflected precisely in those who safeguard it every day. Strong Interior Ministry means a secure Republika Srpska; secure Republika Srpska means a stable and certain future for all our citizens," Karan said.

According to him, the Republika Srpska institutions continuously develop and strengthen the Republika Srpska Police, institutionally, personnel-wise and materially.

"We firmly oppose any attempt to diminish its strength, its competences or its ability to efficiently protect our people and the constitutional order," Karan said.
