KARAN: GENERAL MLADIĆ WAS ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT MILITARY FIGURES OF THE SERB PEOPLE DURING DEFENSE OF SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 27 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan said he received the news of General Ratko Mladić’s death with deep sadness, stressing that the general was one of the most prominent military figures of the Serb people during the fateful period in which Republika Srpska was established and defended.

Karan told SRNA that the memory of General Mladić is inextricably linked to the memory of generations of soldiers who, during the most difficult years, defended their homes, families, and the right of the Serb people to live and survive on their ancestral lands.

He pointed out that the relevant institutions in The Hague bear serious responsibility for failing, during General Mladić’s long and serious illness, to ensure treatment in accordance with the highest standards for the protection of basic human rights, as well as the right to adequate medical care and dignified treatment.

Karan extended his deepest and most sincere condolences to the Mladić family
