BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 30 /SRNA/ - The President of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan stressed that the Day of the Missing and Fallen in the Defensive-Patriotic War of Republika Srpska is an occasion to pay due tribute to all fallen soldiers and civilians, with particular respect for those whose remains are still being sought.

"As long as there is even one family that does not know where their loved one rests, it is our duty never to stop seeking answers and the truth. Searching for the missing is not a technical or administrative matter; it is a matter of justice, human dignity and our responsibility towards the victims and their families," Karan stressed.

The President of Republika Srpska said that many families who have lived with uncertainty and pain for decades deserve the truth, answers and the right to find their loved ones.

"Institutions of Republika Srpska will continue to preserve the memory of the fallen and persevere in the search for the missing, while safeguarding the truth about the Defensive-Patriotic War. This is our lasting duty towards those who perished, their families and the generations to come," Karan concluded.

Since 2021, the Day of the Missing and Fallen in the Defensive-Patriotic War has been observed in Republika Srpska on August 30, which is also observed as International Day of the Disappeared in memory of victims of wars, crimes against humanity and human rights violations.
