BANJA LUKA, JUNE 28 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan has presented decorations on the occasion of Vidovdan /St. Vitus Day/ to individuals and units of the Republika Srpska Army for their merits in the creation, defence, and liberation of the Republic, as well as for distinguished public service and personal achievements contributing to social and political development and the overall affirmation of Srpska.
The Order of the Karađorđe Star of Republika Srpska, First Class, was awarded to Slobodan Župljanin of Banja Luka, the head of the Organisation of Senior Officers of the Republika Srpska Army and a wartime commander.
The Order of the Karađorđe Star of Republika Srpska, Second Class, was awarded to Lieutenant General Jovan Milanović of Belgrade and Colonel Radovan Šmitrana of Prijedor, while the Order of the Karađorđe Star of Republika Srpska, Third Class, was conferred upon the Second Semberija Light Infantry Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army.
The Order of Miloš Obilić was awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Milan Rikić of Bijeljina, while the Petar Mrkonjić Medal was presented to the 14th Herzegovina Light Infantry Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, the Office of Republika Srpska President announced.
Karan also awarded the Gold Medal for Bravery to Republika Srpska Army veteran Milivoje Mrkonjić of Bijeljina.
The Medal of Merit for the People was awarded to Lieutenant Rade Lazić of Banja Luka, Serbian volunteer Čeda Papić, and posthumously to Mirko Komnenić of Trebinje.
The decoration was also awarded posthumously to Serbian volunteers Radovan Glavinić, Mirča Milanov, Željko Simić, Milisav Babović, Ranko Vučkovac, Filip Filipović, Milutin Đorđević, Raško Krupak, Antal Šipoš, Slaviša Tipšin, Jovica Bradić, and Dragomir Staletić.
