JAHORINA, MARCH 4 /SRNA/ - Jahorina today received the most modern meteorological station, worth BAM 120,000, said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac.

Košarac stated that this is the most advanced meteorological station ever installed in BiH, with forecasting capabilities.

"We will employ two people at the meteorological station, which will be installed in the coming days," Košarac said after a meeting with the Mayor of Trnovo Miroslav Bjelica, which was also attended by the President of the Municipal Assembly of Pale Branko Koroman.

Košarac noted that climate change affects the development of tourism, but that a previously conducted study has helped prevent potential problems.

"We opened the discussion on how to prepare the study and what is necessary. It has been delivered to all local communities," Košarac told reporters.

He stated that the study cost BAM 45,000 and was funded by the Green Climate Fund.

"From that study, many other activities emerged. It was noted that Jahorina did not have a meteorological station," Košarac explained.

According to him, the next phase is the implementation of several additional environmental projects.

He announced that in the coming days, a meeting will be organized with the tourism organization and hotel owners to discuss a project for environmentally friendly trails that will also include Dvorišta.

"We have secured around EUR 300,000," Košarac said.

The Mayor of Trnovo, Miroslav Bjelica, stated that the meteorological station will cover the entire area of Jahorina.

"The station will be located in the Trnovo municipal building. In addition, we have been handed the project documentation for the rehabilitation of the Željeznica River. We are also working on a strategy for the development of waste management," Bjelica said.

The President of the Municipal Assembly of Pale, Branko Koroman, thanked Košarac, the municipalities, and the Olympic Center Jahorina for their assistance.

He emphasized that everything can be achieved through cooperation and that the station will greatly contribute to future projects.

"For any project, you must have a database," Koroman said.
