BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 20 /SRNA/ – Neither justice nor humanity has yet seen the light of day in The Hague, Milivoje Ivanišević, a member of the defence team of the first Republika Srpska President Radovan Karadžić, told SRNA.
Commenting on the fact that the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague declined to comment on whether there is a possibility for Karadžić to be allowed to attend the funeral of his wife Ljiljana, Ivanišević said that nothing can be expected from them.
"They do not know what humanity is; they simply live in a world of punishment and merciless treatment toward every one of our prisoners," emphasized Ivanišević, who is also a friend of the first president of Republika Srpska.
Ivanišević said there have been cases in which individuals convicted in The Hague were granted temporary release in the event of a death in one of the countries of the region, but that he does not know whether any of them were Serbs.
He stated that the Hague Tribunal is a dead institution and that the case of Karadžić and other Serb convicts should be returned to the UN Security Council, because there is solid evidence that some of the "crimes" for which they were convicted are disputable.
"We must never give up the fight for truth and justice," Ivanišević said.
Ljiljana Zelen-Karadžić, the wife of the first President of Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadžić, will be buried today at the city cemetery Bare in Pale.
The funeral procession will depart from the church in Pale at 1:00 p.m.
Zelen-Karadžić passed away on Wednesday, February 18, at the age of 80.
