BELGRADE, JUNE 22 /SRNA/ – Former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich said that the Iranian authorities are exporting radical Islam to BiH and that, through political structures in Sarajevo, they are interested in creating a unitary Bosnian state that would gradually be left without Serbs.

"I believe that the forces of radical Islam took power in Iran and are exporting radical Islam through terrorist organizations and acts of terrorism. They are active and influential in the Federation of BiH, within the authorities in Sarajevo, and are very interested in creating a unitary Bosnian state that would slowly and gradually ethnically cleanse Serbs from Republika Srpska and force them to relocate, primarily to Serbia or elsewhere in Europe," Blagojevich said.

He added that many developments in Republika Srpska are influenced by forces from afar, including Iran.

Commenting on the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, Blagojevich expressed hope that the document would contribute to lasting peace but said he remains skeptical.

"I think President Donald Trump has done an excellent job, and Iran must never possess nuclear weapons. So far, he has succeeded in preventing that, but history teaches us that the Iranians cannot be trusted," the former Illinois governor told RTRS.

Blagojevich said that efforts aimed at changing the government in Iran are also connected to what he described as unitary Islam, not only in the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska but in other parts of the world as well.

"We must remain constantly vigilant. Those who believe in freedom and the Judeo-Christian tradition and faith, such as Serbian Orthodox Christians, must never let their guard down. We must continue to grow stronger and more resilient," he emphasized.

Blagojevich said Trump had taken an important step that may not be popular but argued that great leaders do not do what is popular; they do what they believe is right and in the interest of the people.

He added that this part of the world could play a significant role in achieving peace between Ukraine and Russia, under US leadership that builds alliances, relationships and strategic partnerships around the world based on mutual economic benefit.
