SREBRENICA, OCTOBER 23 /SRNA/ - Muslim associations from Srebrenica plan to erect gravestones for all unidentified missing persons and place them in the Srebrenica Memorial Center, which is yet another form of falsifying history and an attempt to distort the facts, Branimir Kojić, president of the Srebrenica Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians, told SRNA.

"Just imagine if we were to put up 49 monuments for missing Serbs from Srebrenica. Naturally, any passerby would wonder what kind of cemetery it is," he said.

Kojić considers it interesting that families are being invited to provide information about persons who went missing, as they say, during and around the occupation of Srebrenica.

"Anyone who knows what happened in wartime Srebrenica will ask whether this also refers to all those who were killed by the wartime mafia of Naser Orić, because we know there were many unresolved murders of those who were not completely loyal to the criminal who held life-and-death power in Srebrenica during those years," he said.

Kojić asked why Muslim associations are suddenly in a hurry and noted that this initiative is not new, but has been ongoing for four or five years.

He pointed out that they are aware that the figure 8,372 is exaggerated, and are now desperately trying to do everything possible to have that many gravestones placed in the Potočari Memorial Center.

"Are they aware that the global picture is changing, and that this will put at risk their enormous incomes, which exist only as long as the false myth lives and they can daily lament, while also doing everything to belittle and minimize the number of our victims," Kojić stated.

He said it was also interesting to see the president of the Mothers of Srebrenica Association Munira Subašić greeting the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen wearing a black headscarf.

"Everyone knows that the black headscarf is a Christian symbol, but now everything is being done to portray only Muslims as victims," Kojić added.

He noted that it is evident that even the Muslim associations do not trust the Missing Persons Institute, since they are taking matters into their own hands and calling on families to report their missing relatives. This has caused negative reactions among most honest families, who are aware that it is not normal to erect gravestones for people who have not been found.

"This is yet another form of pressure on the institutions handling the search for the missing, the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, to ensure that only their victims are treated in the way all missing persons should be, regardless of name or surname," Kojić said.

He expressed his belief that the next step will be a demand to bury the remains currently in ossuaries in Potočari, and Serb associations have every reason to suspect that some of these remains may belong to murdered Serbs.
