GOLUBOVIĆ: "GOLDEN CUT 42 - CHILDREN OF KOZARA" - IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION TO PRESERVING MEMORY OF SERB SUFFERING

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 27 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Minister of Education and Culture Borivoje Golubović said that director Lordan Zafranović's film Golden Cut 42 - Children of Kozara represents an important artistic testimony to the suffering of the Serb people and makes a significant contribution to the culture of remembrance, particularly among younger generations.

Golubović said the film, which deals with one of the most painful periods in history and the suffering of the Serb people in the Jasenovac concentration camp system, also raises, through powerful artistic expression, the question of how evil emerges, spreads and what consequences it can have when individuals and society fail to oppose it.

He stressed that the significance of the film goes beyond the period it portrays, because it creates a link between the past and the present and carries the message that the suffering of innocent people must never be forgotten, the Republika Srpska Ministry of Education and Culture said.

"Remembrance must carry the power of a warning that such evil must never happen again, to anyone," Golubović said.

According to him, the film gains additional weight from the fact that Zafranović carried this story and the desire to turn it into a film for more than four decades.

"That is why I see Golden Cut 42 - Children of Kozara both as an important artistic testimony and as a work that brings the culture of remembrance closer to new generations," Golubović said.

He stressed that there is an obligation to remember innocent victims, and that culture and art have the power to turn historical facts into a human story that remains in the viewer's consciousness.

Golubović expressed confidence that the film would encourage audiences not only to remember the past, but also to reflect on the values society should preserve, above all peace, humanity and responsibility toward others.

The film Golden Cut 42 - Children of Kozara will premiere on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 5.00 p.m. at the Borik Sports Center in Banja Luka.
