TREBINJE, MAY 13 /SRNA/ - President of the Provincial Government Maja Gojković stated that the Spiritual Center in Mrkonjići near Trebinje is significant for the entire Serb people, wherever they live, and that Serbia will help complete the remaining works.
Gojković said she was honoured to attend the first liturgical celebration of Saint Anna, the mother of Saint Basil of Ostrog, at the Spiritual Centre built with funds from the Government of Serbia and with the support of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
"This is not important only for one city or part of Republika Srpska, but for the entire Serb people wherever they live. It is a way to revitalize this part of Trebinje and Republika Srpska. We will ensure that Serbia helps complete the works on this important spiritual centre," Gojković told the press, noting that she attended the event together with SNSD leader Milorad Dodik.
She said that during her visit she will also go to Trebinje and the Tvrdoš Monastery, and that she is here today because Provincial Government assisted by implementing Republika Srpska-Serbia cooperation agreements.
"We will also visit the Tvrdoš Monastery, where we allocated funds to purchase olive processing machines," she said, adding that Serbia also helped build a fountain dedicated to poet Jovan Dučić in the Old Town of Trebinje, which was inaugurated today.
She added that the provincial government, on behalf of Serbia, can continue supporting projects important for this part of Republika Srpska.
Mayor of Trebinje Mirko Ćurić says this is an important day not only for Trebinje and Herzegovina, but for the entire region.
He thanked Dodik, Gojković, and Vučić for their support in building the Spiritual Centre in Mrkonjići.
"If you build a facility and it becomes fully functional, as we saw today filled with faithful people, then we know we are on the right path," Ćurić said.
The monastery in Mrkonjići near Trebinje today marked the anniversary of the inclusion of Saint Anna, mother of Saint Basil of Ostrog, into the diptychs of saints of the Serbian Orthodox Church, attended by many believers, including the general director of Republika Srpska Power Industry, Luka Petrović.
