PRIJEDOR, OCTOBER 9 /SRNA/ – The Todorović family in Omarska, near Prijedor, which has five daughters, including six-month-old triplets, has received gifts and BAM 3,000 voucher today, which were presented to them by representatives of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the Republika Srpska Child Protection Fund as part of marking the Children's Week.

Vladimir Makarić, Assistant Minister for Social, Family and Child Protection, said that the aim of Children's Week was to raise awareness of children's rights, strengthen society's responsibility and care for children, and contribute to providing support for them.

“Such support is very much needed. This year's slogan ‘Support the Child, They Are Our Planet’s Future’, emphasizes the need for all of us to support children,” Makarić told the press in Omarska.

Nedeljko Jović, director of the Republika Srpska Child Protection Fund, said that since last year's Children's Week, triplets had also been born into two other families, in Višegrad and Šipovo, in addition to the family in Prijedor.

“In addition to distributing vouchers to all three families, we provided support to all beneficiaries of child allowance, children with developmental difficulties in families with two, three or more children, children under guardianship, and institutions working with children, to which we awarded various material prizes,” Jović said, adding they had also organised an art competition for students and awarded prizes for the best works.

Gojko Todorović, the father of the five girls, said that the eldest daughter was four years old, the second was two and a half, and the triplets were six months old.

“We are grateful for the gifts and financial assistance, which means a great deal to us. We have been living here for three years. My wife and I bought a house and took out a loan. We have five little girls, so our monthly expenses keep getting higher and higher,” Todorović said, noting they had previously received support from Prijedor Mayor Slobodan Javor, including assistance with purchasing a stroller and financial benefits for newborns.

The girls' mother, Tijana Buha, said that her daughters were named Maša, Lana, Una, Mila and Anja. She thanked everyone who was helping the family, noting that they face many daily expenses.
