ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 23 /SRNA/ – By establishing the Assembly of the Serb People in BiH, now the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, on October 24, 1991, the foundation of Srpska was laid, lawyer Ognjen Tadić told SRNA.
"That foundation, along with the obligation for Republika Srpska to endure as a free, democratic, lawful, economically sustainable, and socially responsible republic, defines the duties and responsibilities of its representatives, both now and in the future," Tadić emphasized.
Recalling that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska has 83 representatives, Tadić said that these are the same seats once occupied by the 83 representatives who, 34 years ago, unanimously decided to establish the Assembly and, 33 years ago, Republika Srpska itself.
"Every current member of parliament must always remain aware that they sit in one of those historic seats," Tadić said.
As part of the Association of the Founders of Republika Srpska's activities, a monument dedicated to the founders and defenders of Srpska will be unveiled in Pale on Saturday, October 25.
