FOČA SURGEONS PERFORMED SURGERY TOGETHER WITH A RENOWNED EXPERT FROM TURKEY

FOČA, APRIL 28 /SRNA/ - A laparoscopic surgery for colon cancer was performed at the University Hospital in Foča on a sixty-year-old patient, together with a leading laparoscopic and robotic surgery expert from Turkey, Emre Balik, continuing the collaboration between the Foča Hospital and Koç University Hospital in Istanbul.

According to the doctors, the patient is in stable condition following the complex surgery.

Emre Balik, Head of the Department of Colorectal and Abdominal Surgery at Koç University Hospital in Istanbul, praised the Foča Hospital, noting that the surgeons and medical staff were very well organized.

The director of the University Hospital in Foča, Nenad Lalović, said that a successful laparoscopic left hemicolectomy was performed on the patient in a very short period of time.

"This procedure has been performed at our institution for 10 years, but Professor Balik's experience is vast, and there is always something to learn from him, especially for younger doctors," Lalović added.

Last year, the University Hospital in Foča established a collaboration with Koç University Hospital in Istanbul, a leading healthcare institution in Turkey. The memorandum of cooperation included the training of Foča doctors on the most advanced therapeutic and diagnostic equipment.
