FILM "THE ONLY ONE" WINS GRAND PRIX AT FESTIVAL IN ZAJEČAR

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 24 /SRNA/ – The film The Only One, by director Denis Bojić, has won the Grand Prix at the 11th Festival of Spiritual Documentary Film of Christian Culture in Zaječar.

The film tells the story of the life of Velinko Trbić, a hero of the Defensive-Patriotic War and one of the most severely disabled war veterans of the Republika Srpska Army.

It is a moving story about a man who was severely wounded by a sniper shot to the head. After awakening from a coma, with a diagnosis of spastic quadriplegia, Velinko Trbić became a symbol of indomitable will and human dignity, an example of unconditional family love and the defence of Republika Srpska, the Memorial Centre said.

Velinko Trbić was born in 1960 in Branešci, near Pakrac.

In June 1992, in the territory of Slavonski Brod, he was kidnapped and taken to a detention camp at the Polet stadium in what was then occupied Brod. He spent more than two months in the camp, during which he was subjected to the most severe forms of torture and abuse. After his release, he went to the battlefield.

As a member of the of Republika Srpska Army, on February 11, 1995, during the final year of the war, he was severely wounded by a sniper shot to the head on the battlefield in Krupa na Uni, western Krajina.

After awakening from coma, with a diagnosis of spastic quadriplegia, he became, presumably, the most severely disabled war veteran of the Republika Srpska Army. Velinko's body has remained in the same position from the moment he was struck by the sniper bullet to the present day.

The film The Only One was produced by the Republika Srpska Memorial Centre with the support of the Republika Srpska Audiovisual Centre.

The film won the Grand Prix at the festival organised by the Diocese of Timok, which was held between September 3 and 10.

The screenplay and direction are by Denis Bojić. The directors of photography are Dejan Račić and Ljubomir Tešinić, while the editing was done by Ognjen Bogdanović and Uroš Mlađenović. The music was composed by David Mastikosa.
